Coach Ray is beginning his 6th season as Head Baseball Coach at Flowery Branch High school. In total, Coach Ray has coached high school baseball for 18 years, 12 as a head coach. In his first season at Flowery Branch, Coach Ray’s team set a record for wins in a season and deepest playoff run in school history (state final 4). Prior to coming to Flowery branch, Coach Ray was the head coach at Milton High School from 2008-2016. During his tenure at Milton, Coach Ray had a record of 182-90-1, and guided his teams to 5 region championships, 2 USA Baseball NHSI Tournaments, 2 State Finals, and a State Championship in 2013. Prior to becoming a head coach, Coach Ray was an assistant coach at North Gwinnett High School from 2002-2007. In addition to coaching at the high school level, Coach Ray has coached with USA Baseball since 2013, including as a member of the 2016 USA National Team Coaching Staff. Coach Ray also serves as an Associate Scout with the Atlanta Braves serving in various roles in amateur evaluation and events. In his 10 seasons as a head coach, he has accumulated an overall record of 202-108-1, 47 players have signed College Scholarships and 8 players have gone on to sign professional contracts. Coach Ray has been awarded 5 Region Coach of the year awards, 2 Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year awards, the Marietta Umpires Association Coach of the year, and the Atlanta Braves 400 Club Coach of the Year. 3 times in his coaching career his fields have been selected as Georgia Dugout Club Field of the year. He has also been selected to coach the Georgia Dugout Club All-Star games 3 times. Coach Ray has also been a speaker at the Georgia Dugout Club annual Coaches Convention.
Coach Black is from Commerce, Ga and now resides in Flowery Branch. He is a graduate of Commerce High School and played collegiately at Piedmont College for 4 years. While at Piedmont, Coach Black helped winning two conference championships and playing in two NCAA regionals. In 2010, Coach Black was named to the All-Conference team as a pitcher. Coach Black has worked camps at Vanderbilt University, Wofford, Piedmont College, and Birmingham Southern. Coach Black was also named as one of the 2018 Assistant Coach of the Year award winners by the Georgia Dugout Club.
He will begin his 8th year as the Varsity pitching coach for Flowery Branch Baseball. Coach Black has previously coached Commerce, Jefferson, and Jackson County.
Collins attended Georgetown University in Washington DC to play college baseball in the Big East Conference. Following his junior year at Georgetown, Collins was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the eighth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, becoming the third-highest draft pick in GU baseball's history. He was named the starting catcher for the North Division in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game during his first season.
Collins was named Georgetown's first BIG EAST Player of the Year in 2015 after leading the Hoyas in multiple offensive categories. He finished the season with a .370 batting average, 78 hits and 36 RBI, while leading the conference with seven home runs, 114 total bases and a .540 slugging percentage and was among the leaders in RBI, on-base percentage, doubles and runs scored.
He finished his career on the Hilltop ranked among Georgetown's career leaders in batting average (.352), hits (203) and sacrifice flies (10). In just three seasons, he became the 10th member of the 200-hit club and the 18th member of the 100-RBI club.
